A Vintage figure of Garuda, carved in hardwood and inlaid with silver wire. Garuda is associated with Hindu and Buddhist tradition and is a bird or bird-like creature with eagle-like features. He can be depicted as a giant bird or a man with bird features. Garuda is represented in India, Thailand, Tibet, Indonesia, Nepal, Cambodia and other counties of South East Asia. Date: Probably mid 20th Century.
Condition: Fair to poor condition. The piece is beautifully carved and inlaid but has suffered losses to both feet, left hand and a couple of other areas. Height: 33 cm, (13") Width: 14.3 cm (5 5/8") max Depth: 6 cm (2 3/8) max. Weight: 954 g (2.1 lb).
